What is Black Friday? <\/h2>\n\n\n\n

 Black Friday is when retailers mark products down with huge discounts – incentivising mass consumption.  This started after the Great Depression in the \u201950s<\/a>, where retailers wanted to move their \u201cRed\u201d <\/em>declining lines of their sales to black. Hence the name. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

But why is this not a solution anymore?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

Giant clothing companies and brands all over the West are patterning toxic consumer behaviour, where they are encouraging mass consumption with unethical low prices. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

100 billion pieces of clothing are made each year<\/a> even with current \u2018efforts\u2019 of introducing sustainable lines within big brands, otherwise known as Green Washing. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
